Day 07 — A Photo That Makes You Happy

Well, this is probably meant be a photo that’s more ‘close to home’, but that’s not really what this blog is about. I’m sure you’d much rather see this kind of photo anyways… 😉

John Barrowman – Sunset Boulevard

This is a photo of John Barrowman during the time that he was cast as the leading man (Joe Gillis) in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Sunset Boulevard‘ musical. He played Joe from 1994-1995 at the West End, and in 1996 at Broadway.

It makes me happy for two reasons. First – come on, he’s gorgeous!! 😀 Look at how young he looks, so pretty… and oh my, his hair! *fangirls* Ahem. 😉 The second reason is that I adore Sunset Boulevard – it’s a fantastic musical, a great story. It’s actually based on an old black and white film by the same title. I hired it from our library earlier this year – being the first black and white movie I’ve watched all the way through – and it was marvellous. The characters are intriguing, and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s transformation of that into songs, music… is beautiful.

So yes. Happy times. Especially when I make it my desktop background… *swoons* 😉

  3. Gotta admit, I’ve never seen the musical version. But we watched the original again a few weeks ago, for a film noir night, and it was just as glorious as I remembered it.
It was really interesting knowing all the allusions within the film too, just made it seem even cleverer.

Here’s a link to a photo that makes me happy:
In part because it was after this shoot I realised that I’d completely mastered my camera, that I was able to get shots from it that shouldn’t even be possible without post-processing (I’ve been accussed of shopping this more often than I can count. There’s nothing done to it, not even a crop)
There’s also the memories that go with this photo. Sneaking into the Rose Gardens at night, dodging the security man and giggling away as we tried to find new ways to create light sources for each other.
Oh and it was the first photo that I got the approval of Angry Man from, which was pretty epic as he gave me my first camera ^,^

Ohh, I haven’t seen the musical version either! They haven’t made a movie of it (yet?) because it’s quite a “young” musical xD But gosh, I reeeeally want to! Maybe one day it will come to NZ…

WOW that’s amazing!! It… almost looks like a painting, so red and smooth… wow! You’re brilliant 😀 I actually had a phase where I was obsessed with sky photography, I was forever taking pictures outside at sunset or whatever, but I tinkered with them on Picasa, haha, so can’t say I have the same “au naturel” skill that you have!! 😮 You’ll have to dedicate a post just for your best/favourite photos so I can see more!! ^_^
