Day 28 β€” 10 People You Admire

Without any preamble…

1. John Barrowman

*beams* So much lovely. Here is a man who is the perfect example of always looking at life’s positives, living it to the full, and following your dreams. John is such an inspiring role model, especially through the support he provides for LGBT and for musically-talented people. And playing a hero like Captain Jack – it’s natural that people look up to him! He’s a truly genuine person, which can easily be seen in his books. Actually, after reading them, I really did feel like John’s best friend πŸ˜€ Wonderful actor, stunning singer… a beautiful soul.

2. J.K. Rowling

Bet you guessed this one, right? πŸ˜‰ Good old J.K. is the perfect picture of writerly success. She never gave up, even though she had many publishing houses turn her down – how gutted they must be now! Slaved away, plotting and writing for years! Ooohh, and the whole image of her writing in a cafe… heheheee. A very romantic idea of a writer, love it! πŸ˜€ And, well – she gave the world Harry, and Hogwarts! How could we not admire her?

3. Billie Joe Armstrong

Aaaah! Too awesome. Love his lyrics, love his voice… he’s really an awesome rock musician. And the fact that Green Day have been together for over 20 years now, with only one band member change after their first album – so, aaaages ago! – wow… simply amazing! And hell, Billie Joe is just so darn good looking… πŸ˜‰ That eyeliner? His ties? Those beautiful green eyes? Mmmm, yes please! πŸ˜€

4. Stephen Fry

*smiles* And not just because he’s in Wellington at the moment, either. I first fell in love with him through ‘Jeeves and Wooster’ and the Harry Potter audio books, and of course, his Twitter!Β  But I’ve been discovering more and more about Stephen – and I just adore him!! His documentary about Manic Depression (Bi-Polar) is so interesting, and heartbreaking, and it’s such a good thing to increase understanding of people who have it. It displayed such a real side to him, what is really underneath his comedic appearance. I have bought his two autobiographies, and can’t wait til my trimester of uni is over so that I have time to dive into them!! I actually also have his ‘The Ode Less Travelled’ book about how to write poetry, which is awesome! He’s got such a brilliant writing voice, I’m definitely planning on reading more of his books. And that’s another thing – he is incredibly funny. His use of language – his voice! – oohhh and his adorable smile πŸ˜€ Loooove.

5. Ma’a Nonu

*drools* Ohhhh. What to say? Love the eyeliner, the dreads, the muscle, the tatts, the smile! And his rugby skills, of course! πŸ˜‰ He’s bloody brilliant – did you see that try he scored last night against the Wallabies?? Pure. Gold. The first time I saw him in person, I’m embarrassed to admit that I was literally too starstruck to ask for his autograph. He had suddenly appeared on the field after a rugby game, to sign along with the other players there, and he was coming through the crowd. He said “Excuse me” to ME!! in order to get past, and I just gazed up at him like the biggest fangirl in existence πŸ˜€ The second time I met him, I was much more collected, and managed to get his autograph AND a photo with him. I did, however, tell him that story about being too starstruck… I also may have let slip that it was on my Bucket List to meet him… *cough* What a stalker, hahaaa!

6. William Shakespeare

…the Master of Words! πŸ˜€ Seriously, even if I didn’t study English, I would have read as many plays as I have by Shakespeare, as he truly is brilliant with plots, with characters, with twists, with emotion! He’s got it all down, mannn. It’s hard to choose my favourite play, as I’ve not read all of them yet, but… I think it would be Richard III, actually! May sound like a weird one to love, but it’s more than a mere history play – Richard III is one of the most devious villains ever, it’s great!

Ohhh and something that everyone must know, because it annoys me when people get this wrong: you know that quote, “Romeo, Romeo, Wherefore art thou Romeo?” Yeah, the “wherefore” actually means why! Which means that Juliet is actually asking “Why are you called/named Romeo?” , not “Where the bloody hell are you Romeo?” !! She’s brooding over his name because she just got told he’s a Montague, and therefore from the Capulet’s (her family) arch enemy’s family.

PLEASE pass this knowledge on. πŸ˜›

/end rant/

7. Andrew Lloyd Webber

From the Master of Words, we get the Master of Music! Such a fan – honestly, I WISH I had even a fraction of this man’s talent! He composes music that tells stories, makes you feel the same emotions as the characters, gives you chills… when I think of a song that give me chills, “Don’t Cry For Me, Argentina” immediately leaps to mind, after being lucky enough to see it sung live in a show celebrating the best songs of Andrew Lloyd Webber. And ‘Phantom of the Opera’ is obviously fantastic πŸ™‚ However, I have a special love for ‘Cats’ because I grew up listening to the soundtrack, and remember rather vividly how I used to pretend to BE a cat, dancing around to the music. Can never say no to ‘Sunset Boulevard’ either, or a bit of ‘Joseph’s Amazing Techni-Colour Dreamcoat’. Oooohh and don’t forget his “flop” (insofar the “The Lord” can have a flop – it still got a DVD recording/release!!) ‘By Jeeves’!! πŸ˜€

8. Emma Watson

Awww, such a beautiful nature. She’s such a good role model – mostly πŸ˜‰ Emma didn’t go all crazy at being given fame at such a young age, which I guess would be easy to do, if you weren’t grounded. So, in that way, she’s really down to earth and genuine. The way she played Hermione was very fitting, and Hermione herself is someone to look up to too. I can’t help but love her accent… and she’s so pretty!!! πŸ˜›

9. Dr Matthew Trundle

To come back a little closer to home… here is one of my past lecturers, my idol! πŸ˜€ Ohhh man, I would go along to a lecture for a paper that I’m not even taking if it meant being able to listen to him lecture. He doesn’t need a microphone – he just booms it out, and he doesn’t have notes or anything – he just goes for it, off the top of his head! But he sounds perfectly articulate – like he just knows it, like the back of his hand. He lectures for Greek/Roman Classics, and has a book out, on Amazon! *gasp* πŸ˜› He even has his own VERB *giggles* Let me explain: One of my other Classics professors was lecturing when his microphone broke, and he was like “Oh well, guess I’ll have to Trundle it!” Teeheee. Love it.

10. My Mum!

Couldn’t leave my good old Mum out, could I? πŸ˜€ She’s the person I talk to the most, and the person that I know will always be there for me! She’s so strong, determined, and passionate about what she believes in. She’s still reaching for the stars, too – having just finished her first university degree a few years ago, which is something that I would be far too weak to do at such a time in my life!! πŸ˜› And she’s got dreams for her future, which I find truly inspiring πŸ™‚ It’s never too late to make a difference – thank you, Mum, for showing me that!

Awwww, soppy end to today’s post πŸ˜› Worth it though!

Have fun!

Day 20 β€” A Hobby Of Yours

Gosh! This one was way harder than it should be. πŸ˜€

I mean, I do kind of have hobbies. I read, write, listen to music, go walking, watch movies, watch rugby games, enjoy baking… but they’re pretty normal things to do. I used to collect stamps and coins, but gave them up loooong ago ( my brother now collects coins though! :)) Sports aren’t really my thing, I’m far too uncordinated for them – although, I did used to really like volleyball.

But… a hobby. Something that I regularly do for pleasure in my leisure time, so Wikipedia tells me.

The most obvious thing – and one of the only things I could think of, aside from wasting time on the internet – was writing fanfiction.

Now, before you all start groaning at the thought… let me explain πŸ™‚

My involvement with fanfic began way back when I was in my first year of high school – so, 13 years old! Back then, I was into the Harry Potter fandom. It’s rather hilarious when I re-read the journals I used to keep at that age – according to my journal, reading fanfic gave me “enjoyment, and ideas”. Uh huh… not exactly the biggest revelation in history πŸ˜‰ I was into the normal ships, Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione. Crazy to think of now, of course… heheee, but it seemed like a natural step from the original stories.

It was during this time that I started writing my own fanfiction too. I would absolutely cringe if I were to read THOSE again – they were terribly cliched, and short, and… just. BAD. I mean, the title of my first one: “Daybreak Duo”. *awkward cough* Lovely alliteration… heh.

But anyway, I do remember having a wee trouble over my budding fanfiction addiction – because back then, I didn’t have my own laptop, so had to use the family computer. So, of course, my Mum found out what I was doing – and I remember her saying “I’m not paying for internet just for you to read stories!!” Hahaaa. This makes me feel so old. πŸ˜€ I also got into trouble for trying to get into “Mature” rated stories – I was completely innocent at 13, you know, so I had no idea what it would even entail πŸ˜‰ (*cough* Different story now…) Luckily I didn’t corrupt myself that early on, so went back to reading nice fluffy stories about Harry and Ginny declaring their undying love for each other… *shakes head*

But yes, so it wasn’t until I was 14, or nearly 15, that I really started writing fanfic, properly. It was then that I discovered my ‘true’ calling, as it were, in Harry/Draco fanfic. I’ve almost given up trying to defend this pairing to people, especially my fellow die-hard Harry Potter friends. I just like it, deal with it! πŸ˜€ I also turned my eyes to Remus/Sirius, which is brilliant because it is – I believe – a LOT more likely to be canon… πŸ˜‰ Gasp, the horror! But honestly, what a delicious couple.

And, when I was 15, I started my major break-through as a fanfic writer – my first chaptered story – called ‘Not A Malfoy Anymore‘. It was – and in a way, still is – my most successful/popular piece of fanfic. Most hits (currently 200,000+) and most reviews (currently 400+). And most chapters (23) and words (86,210). However, when I look back on it now, I can’t help but cringe!! I guess it’s encouraging to see that during the story – which I began in June ’05, and finished in April ’08, so it took me nearly three years to write!! – that I do improve and progress as a writer. The beginning chapters are AWFUL to me now, but by the ending, I think it’s safe to say that I’m getting better. If I’m allowed to say that about my own fic! πŸ˜› This is one of the reasons why I think that fanfiction has truly changed me, in helping me to write something at all, and therefore helping me to get better!

Practice makes perfect, after all. (And yes, I’m still practicing ;))

So, I finished that during my last year of high school, but by this time, I was writing less and less fanfic. The main reasons for that were because I was studying a lot, to get good grades to get into university… but also because the Harry Potter fandom was dying, just very slightly – in comparison to when I’d first entered it, that is. So there was less compulsion for me to write fanfic.

My first year of university was a complete fail when it came to writing. I was busy… experiencing everything – living away from home for the first time, making a bajillion new friends – I had no time for writing. Plus, the Harry Potter fandom was incredibly dead now, in regards to my pairings and interests anyway. Why should I keep on writing fanfic?

Another year of uni started – a much less social year, I screwed my head on properly – and along came Torchwood.

Oh! It was marvellous. I devoured the series in a matter of a week or two. I watched, and rewatched. And then I went fanfic hunting, and liked what I read.

I watched some more.

And then, I was ready to write my own fanfic. That’s one thing that I’ve always felt it quite important, to me. In writing fanfic, I always try to be as faithful and as true to the actual characters as I can, no matter how much I’m actually changing the plots and situations of the original series. You have to get the character right. Which is why I spent so much time studying the series. Anyway, obviously my interests lay in Jack/Ianto – although, of course, I just adore Tosh, and Owen, and don’t worry, I’m not a Gwen hater either! πŸ™‚ My first Torchwood fic, ‘Need You Now‘ was a two part fic, inspired by Lady Antebellum’s song. I was absolutely bowled over by the fantastic response to it, particularly considering that it IS only a two part thing, not with many chapters. I think it’s still my most ‘popular’ Torchwood fanfic, if you’re working out the average reviews per chapter. Crazy stuff!

With such a delightful entrance into the Torchwood fandom, how could I not keep going? Since then, I’ve written the most fanfic I’ve ever written, consistently, regularly. Which still isn’t as much as some people – but I really can’t spare the time to make it a full-time job.

Hence, the hobby πŸ˜‰

My longest Torchwood fic is currently my musical, ‘Torchwood: A Musical!‘ which I am completely surprised that people actually read!! I wrote it for Script Frenzy this year, which was HEAPS of fun, and I’m actually still in the process of writing it now – it’s not finished yet! (gosh, I better get onto that…!) It’s at 24,758 words so far, but as it’s a script, not prose, it’s not really going to be an epic 100,000+ word project.

So, that brings me to where I’m sitting now. I still occasionally go back and re-read old Harry Potter fanfic favourites, as my recent Fanfic post indicates. I am obviously comfortable in the Torchwood fandom, still writing and reading.

And yet…

I feel like I’m almost on the cusp of a new stage in my affair with fanfiction. Lately, I’ve been really getting into the Sherlock fandom. I’ve been finding more fics to read, and watching the series more and more times over. As yet, I don’t have any plans for a Sherlock fanfic – although I have had some ideas! – but who knows what the future may bring. Plus, with the new series of Torchwood, and all the controversy that entails, I can’t help but notice that the Torchwood fandom seems to be dying just a tiny bit now. I, of course, will keep on writing what I’m writing, and I have many other random ideas for new Torchwood fics, but the fact remains…

Ah well. Only time will tell! Crazy things do happen. In fact, sometimes I just get this random urge to go back to my abandoned Harry Potter fic, that I began just before beginning university ie. when everything went crazy. Hahaa. I’d have to completely scrap it and start again. And that is highly unlikely to happen. But one never knows…

Sooo… any closet fanfic writers out there? Please, come out! πŸ˜€ Or, alternatively – any other interesting hobbys that people have? πŸ™‚

Have fun!

(*wipes forehead* Phew, longest post yet, I think! Do hope I didn’t bore you!)

Day 18 β€” Whatever Tickles Your Fancy: Can Haz Pretty?

I Feel Pretty!

Eeeeee. Okay, so this song was stuck in my head, and I was also stuck for ideas for today’s “freebie” post. So… I decided to be incredibly random and make a post of teh prettyful! πŸ˜€

First of all, watch that video and listen to the song. Doesn’t it just make you happy? So darn catchy too – I take no responsibility for it getting stuck in your head πŸ˜‰

On with the pretty!

Emma Watson: Awwwww. She’s naturally very beautiful, and her smile always makes me smile. So many pretty pictures of her just being herself πŸ™‚

Rupert Grint: Ginger = YUM. And he has such a warm smile. Cutie!

David Thewlis: Lovely in many pictures, but this one with the glasses makes him look intelligent – and we all know that intelligence is sexy!

John Barrowman & Scott Gill: Cutest. Couple. Ever. God, I seriously don’t know if I’d be able to choose between them.

Gareth David-Lloyd: He makes such a pretty fairy, doesn’t he? πŸ˜‰ As gorgeous as those beautiful Welsh vowels.

Stephen Fry & Hugh Laurie: Simply a marvel! They are both remarkably handsome back in their ‘Jeeves and Wooster’ days – not that they aren’t still… πŸ˜‰

Benedict Cumberbatch: Those cheekbones, that smile… those eyes! Delicious.

Martin Freeman: Can’t have one without the other. Just adore everything about him – including his height πŸ˜€

And… to finish up…

Cuban Blue Kitty!! Just look at those EYES.

Yep, so. That’s today’s post. I realise it’s all just the smallest bit shallow, and completely pointless… but at least it’s pretty pointlessness πŸ˜‰

Posts of substance will return tomorrow (good or bad thing…?) πŸ˜‰

Have fun!

Day 15 β€” A Fanfic

Yay! I’ve been looking forward to this day of the Challenge for aaaages πŸ˜€ The only problem with today is the difficulty I had in choosing just a few fanfics!! πŸ™‚ Decided that I should pick one or two from my three favourite fandoms. It’s only fair, after all πŸ˜‰

Harry Potter

Title: Bond
Anna Fugazzi
Pairing: Harry/Draco
Rating: M
Word Count: 183,676 words (complete).
In which Harry and Draco find themselves forced together as victims of a sinister spell – that is, a bonding spell. Like a marriage. Because that’s always going to go down well πŸ˜‰ But is it just a mere accident, or will things turn deadly?

Bloody love this! πŸ˜€ It’s technically an AU, as it’s only canon compliant up to OotP. But then, it was started before HBP and DH were even released, so not surprising! πŸ™‚ I’ve re-read it more times that I care to count – it is a long fic, but deliciously so!

I just adore how in character both Harry and Draco are, and how convincingly they wade themselves through their situation. Of course they’re going to hate each other, and try to kill each other, if they’re suddenly thrown into a bond. Anna gives us some really really sweet moments too, nice fluff to counteract all the angst going on. The way they interact with each other is just utterly perfect. Plus, the fact that life still goes on around them – the politics with Death Eaters and Voldemort and all that – really shapes the fic’s universe. The picture is from an illustration made especially for ‘Bond‘ πŸ™‚ It’s one of the more famous Harry/Draco stories, as the amount of reviews clearly shows!! If you’re into Harry/Draco fanfic, and you haven’t read it, or heard of it, something must be wrong with you πŸ˜‰

Title: Eclipse
Author: Mijan
Pairing: Harry/Draco
Rating: T
Word Count: 287,717 words (complete).
Summary: Draco thinks he’s doing the right thing, kidnapping Harry and taking him to Voldemort. It’s the perfect plan… but when Draco’s world turns upside down, the fight to save himself – and Harry bloody Potter! – begins, and the battle will take them to hell and back. That is, if they come back.

This fic is also canon compliant up to OotP, and is even longer than ‘Bond‘ – but this is definitely a good thing πŸ˜‰ Once again, Harry and Draco are forced to work together, but this time, they’re completely on their own. The setting is the outdoors, for the most part, which is magical! There are some super cute moments, and some angsty moments, both of which satisfy the squee. I remember staying up until around 3am many nights – it’s true!! – just to read more of this. Truly addictive, one that I’ve re-read many times too. This is also an illustration done especially for the fic. Love it! πŸ™‚

Title: To The Sticking Place
Author: Zephyras
Pairing: Jack/Ianto
Rating: M
Word Count: 105,814 words (complete).
Summary: AU. Torchwood One Agent!Ianto is a ruthless bastard. The end justifys the means. Failure is not an option. There is always a choice, except when there isn’t. This is Ianto Jones – on the surface, at least – and no one seems to be able to get near enough to get deeper than that. Not even Jack Harkness. Right?

*fangirls* Okay, this is one of the most bloody believeable AU fics I’ve read, for any fandom! Ianto in this fic is completely the opposite of what he is like in Torchwood – he’s a BAMF, but sometimes, it’s easy to hate him. He just seems so damn cold! Of course, the magic of Zephyras’ skill is the unravelling of his complex character… gosh! I just love it. It’s wonderfully written, and don’t let the length of the chapters put you off. It definitely doesn’t have as many reviews as it deserves, but it is a relatively new fic. And her first Torchwood fic, believe it or not! This pic wasn’t made specifically for this fic – it’s actually a sketch of the 1×12 “Captain Jack Harkness” episode, where Ianto is about to shoot Owen for opening the rift. Basically, BAMF. And I thought this pic suited the fic perfectly πŸ˜€

Title: Jones and Harkness
Author: Furious Dee
Pairing: Jack/Ianto
Rating: T
Word Count: 157,199 words (now complete).
Summary: AU. Based on Wodehouse’s Jeeves and Wooster series! Jack Harkness is a rich, foolish and flirtatious layabout. Enter Ianto Jones, professional valet and master of subtlety. The mismatched pair becomes impossibly close, but at what cost in 1930’s Wales? Hilarity, fluff, and the odd dash of angst – perfect combination!

Okay, so this fic is still in progress, but it is already that good! It is written by the gorgeous, talented Furious Dee, who I frequently am distracted by on Twitter and Skype πŸ˜‰ She’s combined Jeeves and Wooster with Torchwood, altering both canons perfectly to suit the story line of ‘Jones and Harkness‘. I delight in finding references to Torchwood quotes, or even Jeeves and Wooster quotes – this fic has converted me, you see! I particularly adore the way in which she gets inside Ianto and Jack’s heads – so convincing, so easy to imagine and live! As Bertie would say about Jeeves, what a marvel! πŸ˜‰

[EDIT: This fic is now FINISHED! Which is both sad and wonderful. Luckily she’s planning a sequel or two… *dances*]

Sherlock (BBC)

Title: A Love With No Name (series)
Author: aceofhearts61
Pairing: Sherlock/John
Rating: T
Word Count: 49,955 words (WiP?)
Summary: In which Asexual!Sherlock and Straight!John are platonically in love life partners. Involving cute moments of love and understanding.

Aaaah!! Seriously, this turns me into such a fangirl, it’s embarrassing. It’s. Just. So. Cute! The idea of Sherlock – a sociopath, by his own diagnosis – caring so much about a human being – John, no less – is very sweet. I like the angle that the asexual element brings to these fics too. It’s by no means essential to reading the fics, but it’s an apt way of describing how far the fics will go. There’s no sex here – I know, the horror… πŸ˜‰ It’s all about the emotional connection. Which is true to their characters, in every version of Sherlock Holmes really. Their relationship really is unique, and fascinating to explore. Love this! I just found this fan art, wasn’t made specifically for this series. Wonderful, isn’t it? πŸ™‚

Phew! So, that’s a short, selective list of my favourite fanfics. It’s funny to realise that they’re all kind of AU, to some extent. I think the most important thing to me, though, is how faithful the fics are to the characters. Honestly so believeable, and wonderful.

I’d love to hear from you guys!! Have any of you stumbled across these ones before? Do you have any fic recommendations yourselves? Super keen.

Have fun!

Day 12 β€” Whatever Tickles Your Fancy: Harry Potter Tribute

Harry Potter.

The boy who lived. Every child in our world truly does know his name.

I had been keen to write up a tribute post to Harry Potter for a while, and when I stumbled across this lovely post (thank you Toni! :)), I knew that it would do perfectly! I did add in a few of my own questions though, as I’m a bit of a fanatic! It’s a few weeks late, but I’m planning on seeing Deathly Hallows Part II for the second time on the weekend, so it is timely on that respect!

Character: Such a tough one to start off with. I’d have to say it’s a tie between three characters…

Luna Lovegood: Love her attitude about life! She has the best quotes, and, well… she’s just lovely. And Evanna Lynch is perfect! Plus, seeing as I’m blonde, she’s the one that get to dress up as – can’t get any better than that! I’ve made my own cork necklace especially for such occasions πŸ˜‰ (keep reading for a pic!)

Draco Malfoy: Oh, how I wish J.K Rowling had spent more time exploring his character… yep, I’m one of those fans who believe that he’s a seriously misunderstood character. He’s in a unique position, which gives his character so many interesting sides… I guess that’s what fanfic is for, right? πŸ˜› Not to mention… Slytherin Prince = HOT.

Remus Lupin: He’s gorgeous! πŸ™‚ My favourite of the Marauders… I just can’t help admiring him. Being a werewolf, having to struggle through life, and watching all of his friends die before him – when in all likelihood he probably should have been the first to go… so brave. And he gives out chocolate. Win!

Book: Prisoner of Azkaban. Loved finding out more about Remus and Sirius, and their past. Also adore the whole Time Turner sequence – brilliant!! πŸ™‚ And… I dunno. I just love the whole atmosphere of the book. It’s just before things at Hogwarts take a turn for the worse, but it’s also more mature than the innocence found in the first two books. Which is, of course, charming in itself, but I love this book for finding a balance. Oooh, and we’re introduced to Hogsmeade – love it!

Film: Deathly Hallows Part I. Not just because it’s one of the more recent ones, but because it has the most focus on character, over plot. I know that some people saw this as a negative point, but I loved every moment. It’s wonderfully faithful to the book, a perfect setup for the end. And Dobby… too beautiful for words. I have to say though, right behind this one is Chamber of Secrets. I’ve watched it so many times, along with Philosopher’s Stone, so it’s very quotable. And very funny. πŸ˜€

Moment: Talk about an impossible task! What sticks out for me is a moment in Deathly Hallows during the Battle of Hogwarts, where Luna, Seamus, and Ernie cast Patronus Charms to protect Harry, Ron, and Hermione, because they don’t have enough fight in them to cast their own. Very sweet! πŸ™‚ I enjoy the whole part in Order of the Phoenix where everyone’s staying at Grimmauld Place – seems like a house full of things to explore. And I love when we go back into Snape’s memories and past. Heartbreaking! May I just say, for the record, I totally knew that he was in love with Lily πŸ˜‰

House: Ravenclaw. I would love to say Slytherin, but I don’t think I’m evil enough. πŸ˜‰

Class: Charms. Swish and flick!

Professor: Minvera McGonagall. Hands down. (although Snape gives her a run for her money…)

Spell: Levicorpus! What fun πŸ˜€ As for a useful spell… Alohomora!

Potion: Draught of Living Death. And Amortentia, because of the awesome sounding name!

Book: Hogwarts, A History. I’m sure I’d actually read it…

Profession: A professor, I believe!

Shop: Flourish & Blotts, followed by Scrivenshaft’s Quill Shop.

Food/Drink: Has to be Butterbeer, Chocolate Frogs, and Cauldron Cakes. Mmmmm.

Patronus: A frog! πŸ˜€

Animagus: A cat, naturally. You get to sleep all day.

Creature: Phoenix – preferably, Fawkes. And Dobby, not that he’s a ‘creature’ as such… awww!

Boggart: *shudders* most likely spiders, like poor Ronald…

Death Eater: Bellatrix Lestrange, all the way! πŸ˜€

Mirror of Erised: I think I’d probably see myself with some novels published…

Final Thoughts

When the final book came out, I was actually working – at a book store, appropriately enough. Dressed as Luna, while my fellow colleagues (who are all middle aged and older!) dressed as Tonks, Harry, and Dumbledore. Too epic. The whole book store was full of people waiting to get their hands on Deathly Hallows. We counted down. Funnily enough, immediately after we yelled “ZERO!” our store CD player, which was playing a specially mixed Harry Potter CD, started blasting out the Hogwarts Song: “Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy Warty Hogwarts, teach us something, pleeease!” *giggles* Best. Timing. Ever. My boss ripped open the boxes, and I gazed with wonder at the piles of Harry Potter books… until I had to start selling them a millisecond later!

Felt like the longest shift in existence. The lunch break was extra torturous – I bought Deathly Hallows, and then sat staring at it the whole time. I didn’t want to start it, because then I’d have to stop… never again have I possessed such will power πŸ˜‰ But gosh, it was epic fun, selling the books on the release date – the joy on everyone’s faces, watching people walking out of the shop having already started reading… πŸ™‚

Going to see the midnight screening of Deathly Hallows Part II – the final film, ever! – was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve had, related to Harry Potter. I dressed as Luna, of course. There were so many people dressed up – I saw many Bellatrixs, many Tonks, many non-distinct Gryffindors and Slytherins… and even saw a Voldemort wearing a bald cap! Dedication. While we were watching the film, everyone was so respectfully quiet – except when some like NEVILLE did something EPIC and then we all just erupted into cheers. We saw the Part I film directly before Part II as well, which definitely made for a better time – it followed on so perfectly that it felt like it was just one massive film!

I can’t wait until I have time to re-read the series again πŸ™‚

Please share any of your thoughts about the end of Harry Potter with me!! I’d love to hear them πŸ™‚

It’s not really goodbye, after all!

Have fun!
